Adambarage Kingsley Sarath De Alwis

I have been a Musician since 1964 playing a foot below Harmonium and a Japanese Mandolin while learning to play many other instruments in the few years to follow while still a student at Carey College and Isipathana Vidyalaya, Colombo.

Retired from the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation where I was employed as Music Controller for 03 years having been part of the Orchestra as its Lead Thablist /percussionist for 30 years.

At the age of seventeen I joined the band, “Triangles” and continued with ” Super Set”,” Sathsara” and “The Patric Denapitiya Combo”, “Dhamaratne Brothers”, “Super Stars”, “Knight Riders” and “Super Dynamites” as a key boardist also being the Band Leader of “Knight Riders” and “Super Dynamites”.

I began my professional career as a Music Director by assisting well known Music Directors in the field namely, R. Muththusamy, Mohamed Salih, M.K Rocksamy, Lionel Algama, Shelton Premaratne, Premasiri Khemadasa and Sarath Dassanayake. While working with them I began to compose melodies and to date they number approximately 5000. These include music composed for about 120 Films, 60 Tele-dramas, Audio cassettes and compact discs productions of various popular Artistes both young and old.

I am at present the Director of an Eastern and Western blend Orchestra having a membership of 25 Professional Musicians. The Orchestra performs at indoor musical concerts at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre, Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference Hall, Lionel Wendt, National Youth Council Hall for various Television and Radio Programmes while providing music for National Festivals and Ceremonies.

I have also visited the United Kingdom, Japan, the Middle East other European Countries such as Austria, Germany, Denmark, Italy and India, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Canada to perform at musical concerts for mainly Sri Lankan audiences as well as on two occasions for seminars.
