Since his childhood, he has been highly talented in music and an idol even in school. In 1976, he successfully passed his GCE O/L exam and in 1980, he passed his GCE A/L as well and completed his secondary education, although his fate effortlessly pushed him to music.
Sangeeth entered Bellwood Aesthetic institute in 1983, which in an extension of the National Youth Service Center, where he refined his music skills and received many opportunities to play in many bands after that, such as Rohan and the Super Strings - Gampaha, Rhythm Stars - Negambo, Super Jades- Kandy and Super six - Colombo as the keyboard player. In 1993, he was invited by another veteran musician, Ananda Perera, to join the band " Shakthi" which at the time was a whole new musical chapter of Sri Lankan bands. They've done many creative musical composition and sangeeth's ability to sing Arabic songs was a grate upgrade for them and definitely expand their fan base. In 1997, He joined " Siha Shakthi " and became even more popular as a singer and a composer. Around the same time, he released his first album as a solo artist. The songs like " Sanda Muwa Wela " and " Saraya " from this album became so popular with his Arabic Musical Inspiration.
HIs musical Journey extend beyond the fences when he became a film music director. He has composed music for eight movies. To add more, he has composed songs for many Sri Lankan artists : these compositions have gained so much popularity among music lovers. " Oba Apple Malak Wage " Sung by Mr. Amarasiri Peris, is one to recall.
Sangeeth Wickramasinghe is indeed an asset to Sri Lankan Music industry.
